City of Grand Junction COPS Grant - Equal Employment Opportunity Plan

The COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP) is a competitive grant program designed to address the full-time sworn officer needs of state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies nationwide. CHRP provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies to hire new and/or rehire career law enforcement officers in an effort to create and preserve jobs, and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts.  The Grand Junction Police Department received $1.3 million to fund five new officers for three years.
As part of the conditions for receiving a COPS grant, the City has completed an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (EEOP) for the Grand Junction Police Department.  The purpose of the EEOP is to make sure that recipients of financial assistance from the Justice Department are providing equal employment opportunities to men and women regardless of sex, race, or national origin.
