  • Uniformed Patrol Division

The Uniformed Patrol Division is the backbone of the Grand Junction Police Department.  It is comprised of 41 Officers, 7 Corporals, 7 Sergeants, 4 Commanders, 5 Police Service Technicians and 1 Administrative Assistant. The Patrol Division is responsible for the initial response to the majority of complaints and calls for service.  The Division operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is responsible for: 1) the protection of life and property, 2) helping to maintain peace, order and safety for citizens, 3) conduct routine patrol of neighborhoods and businesses and 4) traffic enforcement.  Selected officers also perform additional duties such as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE), Field Training Officers (FTO), Forensic Investigations (FI) and K9 Officers.

The Grand Junction Police Department has adopted a philosophy of problem solving which involves forming a partnership with the community.  Working together, the Police Department and community are taking actions necessary to resolve the community's problems.  The Police Department assigns officers to areas within the City and the area team members collaborate to solve neighborhood concerns.  Conventional police team methods are not always used as officers are encouraged to utilize creative methods to solve problems, often employing the help of other City Departments as well as other service providers both in the public and private sectors.
